Math

Language and literacy instruction is often the primary curriculum focus in early childhood classrooms. However research suggests early math skills are a better predictor of academic success than early reading skills.  Developing early math and numeracy taught in early childhood education provide the foundation children need to succeed in Kindergarten and beyond.  One of the Ready 4 Success goals is to increase early math instructions through engaging and active learning practices. Within this topic are resources related to:

  • The progression of math development in early childhood children.
  • Developmentally appropriate strategies and activities related to math instruction.
  • Strategies to integrate the language of math into your classroom every day.
